Device Set Up Instructions
The following instructions will enable a user to view and send email via a device.
iPhone
Open Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account -> Microsoft Exchange.
For Email Address, use your Texas A&M Exchange email address
Leave Domain blank
For Username, use your NetID@tamu.edu
For Password, use your NetID password
For Description, use TAMU Exchange
The phone will not be able to automatically find the correct Exchange server unless your @tamu.edu
email address already forwards to your Texas A&M Exchange account. If it cannot find the right server,
it will ask you for the server name.
For Server, use exchange.tamu.edu
Once it has verified the settings, it will ask which items you would like to sync. Make sure all
are set to "On" and click Save. Your phone should now begin syncing your Texas A&M Exchange account to your phone.
Android
Click Menu -> Settings -> Accounts and sync -> Add account -> Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
For Email Address, use your NetID@tamu.edu
For Password, use your NetID password
Click Next
If it fails to find the server, use the following details:
For Email Address, use your Texas A&M Exchange email address
Leave Domain blank
For Username, use your NetID@tamu.edu
For Password, use your NetID password
Click Next
At this point, it may say that Autodiscover has failed. If so,
Click Ok
Click Next
Then,
Accept Remote Security Administration warning
Select the amount of data you want to synchronize
Click Next
Your Android phone should now be setup to sync data with the Texas A&M Exchange service.
webOS
webOS 2.X phone
Open Email
Tap email in the top left of the screen
Click Preferences and Accounts
Click Add Account
Click Microsoft Exchange
For Email Address, use your Exchange email address
For Password, use your NetID password
Click Manual Setup
For Incoming Mail Server, set to https://exchange.tamu.edu
For Domain, use tamu.edu
For Username, use your NetID
Save your settings. You should now be able to connect to the Texas A&M Exchange service.
webOS 3.X phone
Open Email
Click Microsoft Exchange
For Email Address, use your Exchange email address
For Password, use your NetID password
Click Manual Setup
For Server, set to https://exchange.tamu.edu
Leave Domain blank
For Username, use your NetID@tamu.edu
Click Sign In
Choose the items you want to sync
Click Create Account
Your phone should now be setup to sync with the Texas A&M Exchange service.
BlackBerry
Activating your BES Account

- Send an email to exchange-request@tamu.edu
stating that you want to activate a BlackBerry phone. Include your NetID in the message.

Troubleshooting Common BlackBerry Problems

Backup all data on the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Contacts -> Menu -> Options
Type: rset
It will ask to confirm you want to erase your contact list and reload it from the server.
Click Yes
Your contacts have now been wiped from your phone and will re-download in the next few minutes.
Once your contacts have been re-downloaded, you will want to restore any contacts that were not on the server.
Contacts -> Menu -> Options -> Desktop
Change Wireless Synchronization to "No"
Save
Reconnect your BlackBerry to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and begin a Restore session.
Select the latest backup and select to restore:
- Address Book - All
- Address Book - Last Used Hints
Start the restore. Once the restore is complete, re-enable Wireless Synchronization in the Contacts app.
You should now have all contacts that were local to the phone and on the Exchange server on your BlackBerry.

Backup all data on the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Calendar -> Menu -> Options
Type: rset

Once your calendar has redownloaded, you will want to restore any appointments that were not on the server.
Calendar -> Menu -> Options -> Desktop

Save
Reconnect your BlackBerry to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and begin a Restore session.
Select the latest backup and select to restore:
Start the restore. Once the restore is complete, re-enable Wireless Synchronization in the Calendar app.
You should now have all Calendar data that was local to the phone and on the Exchange server on
your BlackBerry.
Other Set Up Instructions
Mac Outlook 2011
To fix a faulty Mac Outlook 2011 client:
At the top of the Mac: Click Outlook -> Quit Outlook
Launch Applications -> Microsoft Office -> Office -> Microsoft Database Utility
Delete all profiles that are shown
Launch Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
Enter into Terminal: rm -rf Documents/Microsoft\ User\ Data/Office\ 2011\ Identities/*
Launch Outlook and re-setup
Mount another user's mailbox
To mount another users mailbox, first, the other user will need to grant some very basic
permissions to the root of their mailbox using the following instructions:
1. Right-click on the root of the mailbox in the folder listing
2. Click Folder Permissions -> Add
3. Double-click your name within the address book, then click OK
4. Assign Folder Visible permission to your account
5. Click OK when finished to close out the permission dialog
Once they have granted permission to the root of their mailbox as outlined above, you will
then need to mount their mailbox as an additional mailbox that opens. Use the following instructions:
1. Launch Outlook
2. Select File -> Account Settings -> Account Settings-> Change ->
More Settings -> Advanced tab -> Add
3. Type in a portion of the other user's display name and press ENTER
4. Click OK, Next, Finished, and then Close to close out all the dialog windows.
This will mount the mailbox each time you open Outlook. If you have both followed all the
instructions correctly, then you should be able to see their mailbox and all the folders
that they have shared out to you.
